SWX will feature four of the Empire’s 2016 regular season home games beginning with the April 9th match-up against the Colorado Crush. The remaining three home games will be May 7th against the Billings Wolves, May 20th versus the Tri-Cities Fever, and lastly the team’s regular season home finale against the Sioux Falls Storm on June 18th.
Each week, fans will also have the opportunity to tune in to SWX Right Now for exclusive interviews with Head Coach Adam Shackleford and Empire players.
Sam Adams and Mike Peterson will return as the 2016 broadcast team for Empire home games.
Adams, Emmy award winning reporter and voted Best Sportscaster 2015 by The Inlander, joined the KHQ and SWX sports team in August of 2009. Adams has been covering sports in the Pacific Northwest for his entire broadcasting career, from sled dog racing and hockey in Alaska to the Pac-12. His career started as the radio voice of the Anchorage Glacier Pilots, an Alaska Baseball League summer team. He can be heard every week on SWX calling the action for high school and college football, Chiefs hockey, and just about everything in between.
Peterson has been on the broadcasting team since the Spokane franchise’s inaugural season as a member of the af2 in 2006. He has spent time as both a Sideline Reporter and Color Analyst. Peterson played collegiately as a wide receiver for Washington State University, leading the team in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns his senior year in 1982.
